For pre-forming waves by entering the hair and rotating the comb along its spine, before any hairstyling and finer details are performed. This is to form the rough shape or draft hair shape, and let it set for a while (using something like shea butter), before forming the hairstyle properly later. Pre-forming & drafting for tougher, thick Asian or European hair can take 20-60 minutes assuming no curlers are used prior to that time, and hair is towel-dried after bath, and no hair dryer is used for natural curls. To accelerate your curl jobs; when rotating the spine you can position the comb at an angle, but this will strain the hair more and is not recommended. It is recommended to just rotate the spine normally and remove, and rotate again. The fresh stock does not have the “La Meche” label, and the knurl texturing has been extended along the back-side of the comb to aid in grip. The rat’s tail at the end can be used to strategically position curls near the end of widow’s peak of the hairline, and fix small errors. It’s more precise than the other tail combs as it has a fine needle point. Best for tighter, smaller curls, near the front of the hairstyle; whereas the other model is suitable for the back of the hairstyle (#5600). Your hair will need quite thick volume to use this curler effectively, best with natural curls. It’s smaller in person than expected, which is good because this is a precision specialist tool for wave hairstyles. There aren’t any quality problems such as lack of proper burring on the teeth, this model is finished to a slightly higher standard than combs like 1050-1250, as the teeth edges are all properly manually rounded off and indented, whereas with larger detanglers, this can be a slightly lower standard of finishing. This is necessary for La Meche due to the previously described curling techniques used with it.
