# 5580 is for pre-forming straight parting on the hairstyle, and can also be used as detangler. The spacing allows for precise, angled parts that either flare outwards, are straight, or inwards from the sides, and are important for certain special hairstyles. However, it should be stressed that this is only for pre-forming; after 100% dryness of the hair, the teeth will disrupt the flow of the hair as you comb through for parting, so its better to rely on the coarse section of more conventional double-ended styling combs like # 4930, # 6450, or # 637-445 for post-preforming work. This is a good post-shower comb, its larger in my hand than expected, and the word “Apart” has been removed, stamped only with the number and brand on the fresh stock. To form a curved part on the sides, rotation of comb is easy because of the huge and robust grip area, but considering the narrower teeth, this comb excels in straight pre-form parting generally.
